Supporting Minority Mental Health Month at Broward Therapists

At Broward Therapists, we understand and recognize that mental health is not a one-size-fits-all. Rather, mental health must be culturally informed, trauma sensitive and rooted in understanding the unique lived experiences of each person who walks through our doors.

For our BIPOC—Black, Indigenous, and People of Color—clients, access to mental health treatment can be stymied by racism, biases, language barriers, limited health care coverage and stigma. However, at Broward Therapists, we are working to fight these disparities.

The mental health landscape is diverse, and our practices must reflect that reality. Here is how Broward Therapists continues to support our BIPOC clients, every month, every day and every appointment:

Diverse and culturally competent Therapists:
We understand the importance of having a therapist who gets it. From your beliefs and values to your background and lived experiences. We’re proud to have a team of over 20 licensed therapists with a wide range of racial, cultural and linguistic backgrounds.

Furthermore, our clinicians continue ongoing education to ensure that their approaches respect and align with our clients' values and identities.

Safe, judgment-free spaces:
Fostering an inclusive space for our clients is a top priority. At Broward Therapists, you never have to explain the reason for your values, beliefs or culture. Rather, you can just show up, be seen and begin healing with our therapists in a safe space.

Faith and community-centered approaches:
For many individuals, healing is tied to spirituality, community, culture and or faith. At Broward Therapists, we honor and integrate those values into therapy when clients choose to do so. This ensures your wellness journey reflects your life.

Accessibility and Flexibility:
Broward Therapists offers in-person and virtual therapy with session availability in the daytime, evenings and weekends. We also work with multiple insurance plans to make care affordable. We understand that financial barriers can prevent people from accessing therapy. Our job is to help break that down.

Advocacy and Awareness:
Outside of our office, we are actively working to raise awareness about mental health in underserved communities and increase access. Through our workshops and programs, we are working to reduce the stigma surrounding mental health while ensuring everyone can heal what matters most.
