Stronger Together Family Program
You love your family.
You miss feeling connected.
Attachment-based family therapy for families of all ages—in person and online in Florida.
A way forward, together.
Stronger Together helps families understand the hurt beneath recurring conflict and work toward rebuilding connection. Individual support for children and guided family sessions come together in a focused, attachment-based program designed around 10–12 weeks.
For families of all ages · In person or virtually
Family sessions at least weekly · Weekly individual sessions for participating children

What makes Stronger Together different?
Individual space.
Family work. A shared focus.
The argument you can hear may be only part of the story. Stronger Together focuses on understanding where connection has broken down and what makes it difficult to feel safe enough to be open with one another.
Children may struggle to explain why they avoid conversations, become reactive or keep their feelings to themselves. Parents may feel shut out, worried or unsure how to respond. Rather than centering the work on deciding who is right in the latest disagreement, our team explores the hurt, responses and relationship patterns underneath it.
A therapist for the child
When children are involved, they are matched with individual therapists. These sessions explore barriers to connecting with parents, what makes vulnerability difficult, and how family interactions may contribute to withdrawal or reactivity.
A therapist for the family
A family therapist facilitates Stronger Together, bringing children and family members together to work on the relationship ruptures and barriers to connection being explored in care.
Space for parents, too
The family therapist may meet with parents separately to understand their perspective, concerns and barriers. Individual therapy for a parent may be recommended when helpful; it is not an automatic requirement.
What does “attachment-based” mean here?
The work centers on the emotional bond between family members: what happens when someone feels hurt or disconnected, how others respond, and what makes openness difficult. The goal is to understand and address ruptures in that bond and support more responsive ways of relating.
All ages. Different family experiences.
Who can Stronger Together help?
Stronger Together serves families across the lifespan: families with younger children, parents and teenagers, and parents with adult children. We also work with blended families and families experiencing conflict around separation, divorce or custody disputes. The participating family members and plan depend on your circumstances.
- Conversations turn into arguments, defensiveness or withdrawal.
- A child or teen finds it hard to trust a parent with difficult feelings.
- Parents feel shut out or unsure how their responses affect connection.
- Past hurt continues to shape the family’s current relationships.
- Blended-family roles, expectations or loyalties are creating distance.
- Separation or custody-related stress is affecting family relationships.
- Individual therapy has helped one person, but relationship barriers remain.
For families involved in court proceedings, the focus described here is therapeutic work on family relationships. Discuss any court orders or requested services with the team before scheduling so program fit can be considered.

How the family program works
Understand the barriers.
Work on the relationship.
The program includes individual and family work. Your family’s needs guide how that work fits together; the steps below describe the approach rather than a fixed weekly schedule.
Explore what gets in the way
Children meet individually with their assigned therapists to explore what makes connection and vulnerability difficult. The work considers avoidance, reactivity, and how responses within the family may affect these patterns.
Understand the parents’ experience
The family therapist may meet separately with parents to hear their perspective and understand their own barriers. Additional individual support may be recommended when it would be useful.
Bring the work into family sessions
The family therapist brings children and family members together to explore the disconnection and work toward repair, helping the family address what lies beneath recurring arguments or withdrawal.
A weekly rhythm for individual and family work
Family sessions take place at least once per week. Participating children also meet with their individual therapists weekly. These two parts of care support the program’s shared focus on understanding barriers to connection and working toward relationship repair.
The family therapist may also meet separately with parents when helpful. Those meetings are considered according to the family’s needs.
A focused program with a target of 10–12 weeks
Stronger Together is designed as a time-limited family program, rather than open-ended family treatment. The standard timeframe is approximately 10–12 weeks, depending on the relationship rupture and where family members are in the process. An extension is possible when clinically appropriate. This timeframe is a treatment target, not a fixed deadline or a guarantee that every concern will be resolved within a set number of weeks.
Before starting, ask how individual sessions fit into the family program and how any individual care would be handled when the family program ends.

What is the Stronger Together Family Program?
Stronger Together is Broward Therapists’ focused, attachment-based family program. It combines individual support for children with sessions facilitated by a family therapist to address ruptures in family relationships. The program aims to take place over approximately 10–12 weeks.
How is Stronger Together different from family sessions alone?
Children have individual therapists who help them explore barriers to connecting with their parents and being vulnerable. A family therapist then works with family members together on those relationship barriers and may also meet separately with parents. This combination of individual and family work is central to the program.
Is the program only for children and teens?
No. Stronger Together serves families of all ages, including families with younger children and adult children. The team discusses appropriate participants and the approach for your family.
How do the therapists work together while respecting privacy?
The individual therapists and Carol share information that is clinically appropriate to support the family program, while respecting each client’s boundaries around disclosure. Individual work helps children prepare to participate in family conversations in a way that supports trust and openness.
When a child has strong barriers to opening up in family sessions, Carol may also meet with them individually to build rapport and understand what makes participation difficult. Before starting, ask the team how confidentiality, information-sharing, and their limits apply to your family’s care.
Does every family member need to attend every session?
Not every family member needs to attend every session. Participation is guided by the relationships being repaired and the team’s clinical recommendations. The people involved in that repair will need to participate in the relevant sessions. Individual work can help them prepare for those conversations.
Do parents need their own individual therapist?
Not automatically. The family therapist may meet with parents separately to understand their perspectives and barriers. A parent may be referred for individual therapy when helpful, but it is not required for every parent.
How long does Stronger Together last, and can it be extended?
The standard timeframe is approximately 10–12 weeks, depending on the relationship rupture and where family members are in the process. An extension is possible when clinically appropriate. The timeframe is a guide for focused family work, rather than a fixed deadline for repair.
Discuss your family’s progress, whether an extension would be helpful, and any next steps with the team.
How often do family members attend sessions?
Family sessions occur at least weekly. Children participating in the program also attend weekly individual therapy with their assigned therapists. The family therapist may meet with parents separately when helpful. The intended program timeframe is approximately 10–12 weeks.
Do you work with blended families and families navigating custody disputes?
Yes. The program works with a range of family situations, including blended families and families experiencing custody-related conflict. Its therapeutic focus is on family relationships, barriers to connection and repair. Discuss any court requirements with the team before scheduling so they can consider fit.
Is Stronger Together the same as the Connected Parent Series?
No. Stronger Together is a family treatment program involving individual and family work. The Connected Parent Series is a separate parenting education workshop offering.
