Meet Melissa
Family-focused therapy for children, teens and parents.
Melissa helps children, adolescents, parents and families navigate life transitions with more connection and confidence. She earned a Master of Science in Couple and Family Therapy from Nova Southeastern University, a COAMFTE-accredited program. Her work is grounded in a family-systems perspective: challenges and healing are understood in the context of relationships, families and the environments around each person.
Before becoming a therapist, Melissa worked in special education with Miami-Dade County Public Schools. That experience informs a patient, creative approach and a deep respect for the different ways children learn and grow. Her areas of interest include behavioral concerns, adolescence, parent guidance, divorce, co-parenting and blended-family transitions.
Melissa is bilingual in English and Spanish and conversational in French. She has developed Spanish-language parent workshops on parenting styles, family decision-making with teens and social media safety. She is also trained in Nonviolent Crisis Intervention.

Good things to ask.
Caseloads, formats and areas of focus change over time, so the practice answers these on the phone rather than publishing something that may be out of date.
